The summary

Short version

Here's the headline: your website has a security 'gatekeeper' in front of it — a page that says "Checking your browser before accessing. Just a moment..." before letting anyone in. It's meant to block bad bots, but it's set so tight that it also blocked our own auditing tools. Think of a shop with a security guard at the door who's so cautious he stops delivery people, the postman, and Google's photographer too. Some visitors get through fine; automated visitors (including the AI assistants people increasingly use to find businesses) often don't.

The good news is that when our deeper testing tool did get through, the search-engine basics scored well — Google can read your pages, and the technical foundations are modern and secure. So the bones are solid. The problem is speed and stability: your page loads heavy (about 2.1 MB) and, worst of all, the content visibly jumps around while it loads. That 'jumpiness' is one of the biggest silent reasons visitors mis-tap, get frustrated, and leave — especially on phones.

The single biggest thing holding you back is that combination: a bot-wall that hides you from AI search, plus a page that feels shaky as it loads. Fix the loading stability and loosen the gatekeeper for the good bots, and this site goes from 'technically fine but invisible and jittery' to genuinely working for you.

What's already working

What to improve

Speed & weight

4 issues
  • Your content visibly jumps around as the page loads — our stability score was 1.6, where anything above 0.1 is considered poor. Imagine reaching to tap a button and it slides out from under your finger; that's what a shaky page feels like, and it's a top reason people give up.
  • The page is heavy at about 2.1 MB — like emailing a fat PDF every time someone visits. On a phone with patchy signal, that costs you seconds, and seconds cost you customers.
  • The overall speed score came in at 47 out of 100, mostly dragged down by that jumpiness and weight rather than the initial load.
  • There's extra code being loaded that never gets used — roughly 145 KB of unused scripts and 84 KB of unused styling — dead weight that could simply be trimmed.

SEO fundamentals

4 issues
  • Google's crawler seems able to get in and read you (that's why the SEO basics scored well), but the 'checking your browser' gatekeeper is a real risk — if search engines start getting stopped at that door, your rankings can quietly drop.
  • We couldn't confirm your homepage's page title or its one-line description (the blue headline and grey summary that show up in Google results), because the gatekeeper served us the security page instead of your real page.
  • No sitemap was listed in your site's instructions-for-search-engines file — a sitemap is like handing Google a table of contents so it never misses a page.
  • Because our tools kept hitting the wall, we could only fully inspect your homepage — a fuller check needs the gatekeeper relaxed first.
🤖

AI search readiness

4 issues
  • This is the big one: AI assistants (ChatGPT, Google's AI, Perplexity, Claude) almost never solve a 'checking your browser' challenge — they hit the wall and give up. So when someone asks an AI "good bakery near me," your site is effectively invisible to it.
  • You have no llms.txt file — a simple new plain-text file that tells AI tools what your business is and does, in words they can read.
  • There's no structured data — the hidden labels that tell machines "this is a bakery, here are the hours, here's the address." Without it, AI and Google have to guess.
  • Your instructions-for-bots file doesn't specifically welcome the AI crawlers — so even the polite ones aren't clearly invited in.
🛡

Trust signals

4 issues
  • First impressions matter, and the first thing a new visitor sees is a spinner and the words "Please wait for up to 5 seconds" — for a bakery, that's a locked door with a 'back in 5 minutes' note before they've even seen a cake.
  • The jumping layout as the page loads makes the site feel unfinished or broken, even when it isn't — and a shaky site makes people quietly doubt the business behind it.
  • We couldn't confirm you have a favicon (the little logo icon in the browser tab) — a small thing, but its absence makes a site feel less finished.
  • Because our tools were blocked, we couldn't verify trust signals like reviews, contact details, or an about section are present and visible — worth confirming, since these are what turn a first-time visitor into a buyer.

What we learned about your business

Built from the intake you shared and the live read of your site. If anything below is off, reply to the WhatsApp thread and we'll fix it before the build kicks off.

Who they are

  • Driven by: winning more clients through a better-performing website.

What they do

  • Baked goods — retail bakery (category from the business name).

Where they operate

  • Channels: website (avonbakers.com).

Positioning note

  • Web performance is the stated priority — the operator brought this project in to make the existing site convert, not to rebrand.

Copy & messaging

We honestly can't judge how well your website's words are working, because your own security gatekeeper served our tools a 'please wait' page instead of your real site. That itself is the finding: if our professional tools couldn't get past it, real customers on slow phones and the AI tools they use to find bakeries may be getting stopped too. The first job is to relax that gate — then we can properly review whether your headline sells, your menu is clear, and there's an easy way to order.

💬Headline clarity✗ fail

The only headline our tools could see was the security message "Checking your browser before accessing" — not a word about fresh bread, cakes, or your bakery. We couldn't read your real homepage headline because the gatekeeper stood in the way, so this needs a live look once that's relaxed.

🎯Call-to-action✗ fail

We couldn't find a clear next step — an "Order Now," "See Our Menu," or "Call Us" button — because the security wall hid the real page. Confirming (and if needed adding) an obvious next step is a top priority once we can see inside.

Tone

We couldn't assess the real writing style — the only text we could read was an automated security notice, not your bakery's own voice.

Content gaps

Things most businesses in your category have on their website, but yours is missing:

  • A clear menu or product list with prices (what you bake and what it costs)
  • Opening hours and location / a map
  • A simple way to order or enquire (phone, WhatsApp, or an order form)
  • Customer reviews or photos of your actual products
  • An 'About us' story — who bakes, since when, what makes you different
